Welcome to Lent Thing III

Well, it has been awhile indeed! When I was in college in the Newman Center we were encouraged to start a “Lenten prayer” session. It was our dear Fr. Looney’s best attempt to make us settle down and focus on the point of Newman Club and thus was born “Lent Thing”. We enjoyed it so much that the following year we did Lent Thing II. I have missed our Lent things. Many of my friends and I still chuckle at the name but remember there were nuggets of wisdom thrown in there. I miss my friends, some more than others. I want everyone to know that Lent Thing lives…20+ years later. The difference is that I am no longer a petulant 20 year old. Now I am a petulant 40+ year old. A wife and mother. A ministry student and a lot of life experience behind me. Words mean more to me now…what God says means more to me now. Lent means more to me now.I want to start this for Lent, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if we actually did this all year long? If we took a couple of moments out of our day to simply sit within the word of God? I welcome you to join me and to post your thoughts. I welcome you to share this Lent with me so that come Easter Sunday we can feel that we are truly taking part in the JOY of the day. We are called!!
Can you hear it???

Wife, mother, blogger, Catholic ministry. I love to garden even when it goes wrong. Same with writing (and we know it can go wrong.) Believing that God is present in all of it.
