Trust
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose hope is the LORD.
He is like a tree planted beside the waters
that stretches out its roots to the stream:
It fears not the heat when it comes,
its leaves stay green;
In the year of drought it shows no distress,
but still bears fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8
I have always had an affinity to trees, probably thanks to my father who was a lover of all trees and who my sister tells me used to quiz her on car trips about which trees were which. So this imagery is speaks to me. The image is refreshing and powerful.
that stretches out its roots to the stream
For a while now, I have felt like a tree that was planted where God intended me. I feel immovable in my love for God though I go through the seasons of life. My roots growing more deeply as I thirst for a better understanding of his will for my life and our world. As I get closer to the stream, I find that I become more still and more confident that God is in control.
May that way of being somehow bear fruit.
