Tragedy In Colorado
In light of today’s events in Colorado http://www.nbcnews.com/, I am sharing a song posted by a Facebook friend. Sting’s “Fragile” really does sum up how I have felt all day. But I know that somewhere in the midst of all of this uncertainty and utter madness lies the string that holds us all together. Let us pray to put an end to this culture of violence. Let us pray for all those lives lost or shattered by one persons madness. Let us pray for PEACE.
Annette, yes we are so very fragile. When I was on retreat one of the priests prayed for the people in Colorado and also the people in Scarborough, Ontario who had been involved in violent acts. When I heard about these two incidents, I was almost ill because people are so desperate and they don’t know the love of Jesus in their lives. I have been troubled by this but we need to keep the hope that is in our faith in Christ and we need to remember Matthew 25 and be part of the solution. I will be using this song and Matthew 25 for reflection at Bible Study this evening as we are all community and we need to be aware and feel for others whether we know them personally or not.
Thank you for this post and thank you for your prayers while I was on retreat. It was certainly not “enjoyable” but I spent a great deal of time wrestling with God and I was blessed.
God bless you.
I think you hit the nail on the head “they don’t know the love of Jesus in thier lives” and the reality is that we can only try to be that to whomever we meet and we can only pray for a more loving and gentler world. God likes to wrestle, so much of his book is about just that. I hope the song was useful in what I can only imagine was a difficult Bible Study. My heart and prayers go out to everyone in the ongoing aftermath.
