They’ll Know For Sure!
Something to remember as we approach tonight’s debate. No matter who your candidate of choice is this is what we need to keep in mind: People are looking at us each time we identify ourselves as Christians. People are watching how we are living out our faith. We can support our causes and stand up for what we believe in but also must remember that it is in the doing and in the living out that the glory is given to God.So I have been asking myself some questions when I find myself wrapped up in this. Am I encouraging trash-talking, mud-slinging or outright slander? Am I trying to represent the truth and expecting the same of my candidate? Am I living the Gospel or following a personal agenda? That is a tough one.Am I remembering that even though they have sent themselves up to be scutinized that they are still people. As you can imagine all of this is a struggle for me. But as I was thinking about it, I remembered that the most important thing in the never-ending, ever-exhausting political campaign is that it is simply a campaign. But we have a mission. If I make it so that no one is interested in the mission because it seems, well, hypocritical, than I have made the biggest error of all. So these are the words to the song that I will be singing for the next couple of weeks. An oldie but a goodie! We are one in the Spirit
We are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit
We are one in the Lord
And we pray that our unity may one day be restored
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
Yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love
We will work with each other
We will work side by side
We will work with each other
We will work side by side
And we’ll guard each man’s dignity and save each man’s pride
And they’ll know we are Christians by our love,
by our love
Yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.
Thank you for this post, thank you. I’ll be singing with you!
Thanks for the company Fran! 🙂
