The Tranquil Life

The passage from the reading of St. Paul to the Thessalonians today struck a cord in me: “Nevertheless we urge you, brothers and sisters, to progress even more, and to aspire to live a tranquil life, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your own hands as we instructed you.” That is my…

Truth Hurts

I feel the need to share this blogpost from Patheos Catholic. I hits so close to home with my own feelings for the institutional church. This is the continuous struggle of women in the church but as the author says “I love the church,” Like her, it has given me so much, most importantly, my…

Dreams

I awoke to the sound of a waterfall. Confused and still a little dazed, I looked around trying to catch my bearings. I was alone. My sleep must have been like a coma, I could only feel peace in this moment. I tried to piece together, in my memory, what had taken place and how…

Regrets

He picked up the large black garbage bag and looked at the tape then looked at me. “I know you think this is important,” He said, “But it means nothing in the end. People spend far too much time and energy regretting things. All of that time and energy could be better spent building, creating,…

Around the Table

I was immediately transported back to my grandparents kitchen table on their farm. It was breakfast which always included a slice of beautiful New York State cheddar cheese and some orange juice. As I took a piece of cheddar cheese, I said, “this really is one of your best creations, you know…” “Meh,” He smiled….

Bag of Love

To my relief, he grabbed a bag that was most important to me. It’s the one I was hoping to take with me. It carries all of my love, for him, for me, for everyone I know, for the earth and for our world. It was one of the bags I couldn’t just leave behind….

Love Reaches Out

Before I knew it, he was standing before me, smiling. I couldn’t speak, I was overwhelmed by his presence. I forgot about all of those bags I had been carrying, all of the bags I had been focused on, everything I thought was wrong, it was all gone and I stood there alone with Him….

Before I Go Any Further

Instinctively, I reach for the hand but then pull back, remembering all of my stuff. I am convinced that whoever the voice belongs to can’t possibly see it, because if he did, he definitely wouldn’t be so eager to invite me closer. He can’t see the mess I am, of this I am certain. “What…

Hope Awakened

Jesus said to his disciples:“Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.Watch, therefore;you do not know when the Lord of the house is coming, whether in…

Need a Prayer/Say a Prayer

We pray for all of those who are in the path of climate destruction. Especially the innocent who have no power in effecting change.

We pray for our world, for those who flee war and injustice, for those who cause it and for our children.

For those who are exposed or suffering from the Coronavirus/RSV and Flu

For healthcare workers and those who put themselves in the service of others.

For an end to racism and anti-Semitism.

For Mark

For the people of Ukraine.

For an immediate end to gun violence.

For our children, that they can have confidence int the adults charged with their care.

For those suffering in the Middle East.

For healing for Anita.

In gratitude for Juliana.

For all of those who ask us to pray for them.

Hello!

Annette

Easily distracted middle-ager. Wife, mother, sister, friend...some days I do those better than others. Forever frustrating my children because I don't stay still for pictures. Catholic until they kick me out. Hoping for peace. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Be bold.
