Considering 2013

I think I just washed the dip bowl from last years New Years Eve celebration and here we are at another.  Why does it feel like time is racing faster than ever?  Any quantum physics experts to help me out with this?  Either way, I guess the time is now to consider any adjustments in…

Holy Is His Name

My daughter Meg put this together for me for a talk I did on Mary.  I wanted to open up with focussing on Mary’s spirit but also her ordinariness.  At twelve, she was able to capture it.  During the words “Holy, Holy. Holy” watch for the focus on the ordinary family movements.  The typical giving…

Comfort My People

An excellent video in response to the Newtown Conn massacre.  The mystery is always present,  the pain of the day may change us but our God knows our pain, knows the pain of those who are suffering most and is there holding them.I had a beautiful image come to me as I focused on the…

Joy Stolen

“A voice was heard in Ramah, sobbing and loud lamentation; Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more.” Matthew 2:18 – The Slaughter of the InnocentsThe anger and outrage that I feel about this mass murder defies words.  As a mother and as someone who works in…

In Her Heart

“And all of this, she held in her heart” There is a time to talk, to chat and to share and there is a time for stillness of mind and heart so that we can hear more clearly the urgings of God.  That time is now in the midst of holiday frenzy, I find I…

Getting into Advent– Turn to Me Re-post

I admit, I have been caught in a mental frenzy of Christmas and life these past couple of weeks and though I really wanted to start Advent off right, I have already failed.  By that, I mean that I haven’t fully focused myself yet on what this season means.  But I do seem to find…

Giving Thanks for Mom

I have very strong but scattered memories of Thanksgiving. I remember being at my grandmothers  when I was very small before my parents divorced.  I remember being about eight or nine and adding members of of a new family to our already scrunched table.  This meant a kids table and my sister eating on the…

Breeze of Change

Yesterday, in his address to the USCCB, Cardinal Dolan quoted G.K. Chesterton as a call to redirect in a sense where the conference has been focussing.  “The premier answer to the question ‘What’s wrong with the world?’ is not politics, the economy, secularism, sectarianism, globalization or global warming … none of these, as significant as…

From The Mouths of Babes

“At that time Jesus said in reply,  “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned, you have revealed them to the childlike.”     Matthew 11:25My daughter just came in from playing with her best friend next door.  She was sitting…

After-math

“First of all, then, I ask that supplication, prayers, petitions be offered for everyone  for kings and for all in authority that we may lead a quiet tranquil life in all devotion and dignity.  This is good and pleasing to God our saviour,” 1 Timothy 2:1-3Time to move on and do your part in goodness…

Need a Prayer/Say a Prayer

We pray for all of those who are in the path of climate destruction. Especially the innocent who have no power in effecting change.

We pray for our world, for those who flee war and injustice, for those who cause it and for our children.

For those who are exposed or suffering from the Coronavirus/RSV and Flu

For healthcare workers and those who put themselves in the service of others.

For an end to racism and anti-Semitism.

For Mark

For the people of Ukraine.

For an immediate end to gun violence.

For our children, that they can have confidence int the adults charged with their care.

For those suffering in the Middle East.

For healing for Anita.

In gratitude for Juliana.

For all of those who ask us to pray for them.

Hello!

Annette

Easily distracted middle-ager. Wife, mother, sister, friend...some days I do those better than others. Forever frustrating my children because I don't stay still for pictures. Catholic until they kick me out. Hoping for peace. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Be bold.
