Waiting On The Man– Praise through Art

I was flipping through stations on tv the other night and ran accross last years BET awards just in time to see Frankie Beverly of Maze  accept his “Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award.” For five decades he has contributed to the music industry and though I don’t know the whole history, we all can gather that black performers…

RIP Fr. Martin Boler

I decided to go over to Mt Saviours website as I often do just to check in.  So sad to see that another extraordinary person is gone from this world.  But I know where he is, he is sitting at the banquet enjoying his reward and it was time.  He is getting all of his answers. …

Vote for Pedro!

If you have a minute, vote for our sensible, kind and shameless friend to say the Benediction at the Inauguration.  We could really use a unified blessing!https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/ask-father-james-martin-sj-new-york-lead-inauguration-benediction/BGBNz8l4

Mea Culpa

I messed up with my New Years resolution by letting an initially well-intentioned question turn into commentary about another person’s life.  I don’t think it was thoroughly unkind, and it was true but I am stuck on the “is it necessary” and the answer is, no. It was not necessary.  Which makes me think of…

Remembering Grandma Part 2

There are so many funny stories in our family and many take place on my grandparents farm in West Martinsburg but this one I am going to share because it is a favorite of mine and it reminds me of the story of the workers in the vineyard (Matt 20:1-16) and it makes me laugh. As the youngest…

Happy Birthday Grandma! Part 1

Today would have been my grandmothers 109th birthday.  She passed away four years ago at 105.  We all still miss her and her love.  Grandmothers, loving grandmothers, are like that.  I was in my forties and it was still too early for her to leave.  I miss her hands, her kisses and her essence.  I…

Epiphany Sunday

One rule while I was growing up and in my own house now was that no Christmas was put away until after the Epiphany, (though the official end to the church season is next week when we celebrate The Baptism of the Lord).  Consequently, I also do not immediately put up decorations on Thanksgiving.  I believe…

At Last

I feel like my blog and I are at some peace again.  We seemed to be fighting, each of us wanting to be heard, but I think we are finally there.Part of the problem is that it is post-holiday season and getting my thoughts to cooperate is no easy task.  The kids have been sent…

Happy New Year!

I happened on this little tidbit of an article.   Not sure of the validity of the statistic but it does speak to what I believe which is that everyone looking for the way back to where they belong; in the arms of Love.   It makes me a little sad to think about it.  I wish religion did…

Need a Prayer/Say a Prayer

We pray for all of those who are in the path of climate destruction. Especially the innocent who have no power in effecting change.

We pray for our world, for those who flee war and injustice, for those who cause it and for our children.

For those who are exposed or suffering from the Coronavirus/RSV and Flu

For healthcare workers and those who put themselves in the service of others.

For an end to racism and anti-Semitism.

For Mark

For the people of Ukraine.

For an immediate end to gun violence.

For our children, that they can have confidence int the adults charged with their care.

For those suffering in the Middle East.

For healing for Anita.

In gratitude for Juliana.

For all of those who ask us to pray for them.

Hello!

Annette

Annette

Easily distracted middle-ager. Wife, mother, sister, friend...some days I do those better than others. Forever frustrating my children because I don't stay still for pictures. Catholic until they kick me out. Hoping for peace. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Be bold.
