Immaculate Conception
Today is a day for Mary. Something that not every Christian agrees on but one that I think makes perfect sense. A day set aside to honor the person that God chose to be immaculate and to be the perfect vessel for the Incarnation. Whatever the story that Mary’s life takes after this is really inconsequential because of her purity at the time of carrying Jesus. If we find out without a doubt that Mary mothered other children, that does not change the reality of this moment. (And believe me, I know many disagree with that assessment, but it is what I believe) Mary speaks to me on so many levels and has my whole life. As daughter, girl, woman, wife, mother, Mary speaks across the centuries to many of us. Here is a link from Busted Halo that answers many questions about the Immaculate Conception.
