From The Mouths of Babes
“At that time Jesus said in reply, “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned, you have revealed them to the childlike.” Matthew 11:25My daughter just came in from playing with her best friend next door. She was sitting here, clearly full of something to share with me when quietly she said, all aglow, “Mom, you know that tree next to the neighbors house, the big one?” “Yes.” “Well, Livy (neighbor) went and sat under it and I guess that is where their dogs leash and dish are buried and she got sad. So I said, ‘well, if you are sad….say a prayer to God’. And she did Mom, she actually listened to me. And then she smiled and said, ‘I do feel better’ and we got up and started to play.”I was smiling and said, “You are a good friend, Hannah.” And gave her a hug.It is simple what God reveals. Take all of your cares to God. What I tried to let her know was that she gave her friend two gifts. One was that she cared and was a good friend, but the other might be that the next time she is sad, she will maybe remember it and pray then. That is a gift that has no measure. That should be something we are always looking to give.
Beautiful! I love those conversations with my grandchildren. My granddaughter who is six has decided that she can hardly wait to meet my mother who passed away over thirty years ago. She knows that we will all be with Jesus one day. The trust and acceptance of children is amazing.
I love that story Lynda! I bet that your granddaighter is right too, kids seem to know!
