Entering Holy Week
Whispers In the Loggia Please read today’s post.
Such a powerful prayer from Thea Bowman as we enter the final week of Lent. So many moving points, it is sure to speak to you. I was tempted to point some out, but as with any prayer, we are meant to hear what we are meant to hear. Please read it in it’s entirety. The one thing I will open up is the call to attend and to prepare for the Holy Week services. The importance of being part and of taking part in our faith. I know many of my friends don’t go to church and I understand many of the reasons they don’t…but this is the week to overlook those reasons. By walking this Holy Week road with Jesus we are privy to the gift of his resurrection. There is no way to experience that gift unless we bring ourselves to enter into the suffering, the loneliness, the betrayal and the ultimate Crucifixion. It is time to surrender our selves. In doing so we allow Jesus, the Christ, to make us new.
So well said. Peace and prayers for you, my friend.
Thank you Fran, and to you!
I’ll tell you – that’s one thing I do miss about being Catholic – lent and Holy week. In the past I’ve tried to observe them myself but its not nearly as much fun as doing it with your church family. My church – in the past has made big preparations for the big E but not the last few years. I miss it.
Remember how Father would kick us all out getting ready? love a man who gets his priorities straight!
Nina, I don’t remember that? Tell me more. And is there a church there you can go to just for that…? Have you considered doing it. What about Tessa’s school?
